Featured Project - Eugene Public Library
A place in which the citizens of Eugene can share a world of knowledge, the Eugene Public Library was carefully planned to satisfy the demands and meet the civic aspirations of a community that will mature in the information age. Serving as a catalyst for rejuvenation of the downtown core, it features ample space for a burgeoning collection and patronage that far outstripped the capacity of the previous main branch.
A primary goal of the project was to design an environmentally sensitive, energy-efficient building. Digitally controlled HVAC and lighting systems, coupled with liberal use of daylight have resulted in a building that is 30% more efficient than required by code.
The project received the 2003 Hammurabi Award from the Masonry & Ceramic Tile Institute of Oregon, a 2004 International Excellence in Masonry Award from the Masonry Contractors Association of America, and a People's Choice Award from the American Institute of Architects - Southwestern Oregon Chapter.
Robertson l Sherwood l Architects collaborated with SBRA Architecture of Boston on the design of the Eugene Public Library.
